GETTYSBURG, PA (October 2, 2017) – A weekend that ended shy of expectation, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich joined the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Williams Grove Speedway for the annual Champion Racing Oil National Open during the recent weekend, highlighting his three-day campaign with a charge from row 13 to finish 13th on Thursday, September 28.

Unfortunately for Dietrich, a pair of incidents kept the Gettysburg native from earning respectable finishes on Thursday evening during the Summer Nationals make-up feature, as well as during Friday night’s Champion Racing Oil National Open preliminary program. “Double-D” ultimately recovered and qualified for the $50,000-to-win, National Open finale on Saturday and finished 18th, earning a spot in the marquee event by transferring through his respective heat race.

“Not a lot to say, really. It wasn’t the weekend we wanted, but it is what it is,” Danny Dietrich explained, pilot of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Gsell’s Whitetails/Hickory Run Orchards/Carlisle Auto Salvage/CATS Used Truck Parts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Bowman Block & Head Repair/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48. “All we can do now is put all of this behind us and move forward. We have plenty of racing left on our schedule. We’ll be ready for a little redemption during our visit to Port Royal Speedway in a few weeks.”

Danny Dietrich will rejoin the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Saturday evening, October 14, at the Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania. Entering the $10,000-to-win event with a dozen victories on the year, “Double-D” will hunt for his second “Speed Palace” triumph of the season next Saturday night, also claiming the Labor Day Classic victory worth $4,000 on Monday, September 4. It was Dietrich’s second consecutive Labor Day Classic win; his third in four years.

Dietrich’s schedule for Friday and Saturday, October 6-7, stands as uncertain. Plans for the upcoming weekend will be released via social media in the coming days.

“Not too sure what we have planned for this weekend,” Dietrich explained. “It will all kinda depend on what goes on this week. Regardless, we’ll be back on track. I can’t thank my guys enough for what they do for this race team. I have a great car owner and great supporters that allow a schedule like ours to happen. It’s tough at times, but we wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
