THE GROVE NIGHT 1 (THURSDAY)
The Outlaws were in town for a two night race. Threatening weather was in the area, time trials were cut to a single lap. Double D would go out to time, and with getting the shove onto the track he would try to accelerate and the car sputtered. Double D would get no time and pull to the pits. The crew found out that the fuel line had come out. Thinking things were fixed for the heat, Double D heads to the track scheduled to start 12th in Heat 1. Double D would take the green and with only completing 1 lap, Double D would lose power and pull into the pits. Team GKR checked the car over trying to find the problem. With everything checked DD climbs in for C Main. Double D would start 7th with only 2 to transfer to the back of the B Main. After taking the green flag in the C, Double D would continue to experience problems, and come to a stop on the front stretch. Team GKR would continue working on the car, hoping to fix the problem for Friday.
THE GROVE NIGHT 2 (FRIDAY)
World of Outlaws, night number two. With a rain delay to start the night, only one lap would be run again for time trials. Double D would come out to time 40th of 46 cars. Double D would time 25th. This would start him 7th in the 2nd heat. Double D takes the green and the battle begins. The #48 Sprinter falls slowly through the field, and ends up with a 8th place finish. The heats would only qualify 5 to the A Main. Team GKR would make some adjustments for the B Main. Double D would start 7th, and battle the entire race. He races hard with Justin Henderson for the final transfer spot. Double D would drive hard into 3, just getting under Henderson, but would lose his momentum into 1 and 2. Double D would come up one position short of transferring into the A Main. Friday was definitely an improvement on Thursday, but there is still room to improve for next week at The Grove.
LINCOLN
Just a normal night of racing on the agenda at Lincoln. Double D would start 7th in the 1st heat. He would race a few laps under green until smoke starts pouring from the #48 Sprinter. Double D would stop on the front stretch to bring out the yellow. As he takes the car to the pits, the crew would find that the gasket had sucked into the manifold, causing an oil leak. Double D would have to qualify through the consi. He started 6th with 6 to qualify to the feature. Double D would finish in the 4th position. This would put Double D starting 22nd for the feature. Double D takes the green, the car looks good on the top. On lap 4, Double D would enter 3 on the top, with John Rudisill running the middle to top forcing DD to turn across the track to avoid the 4 he spins and collects Doug Dodson, Randy Baughman and Bryn Gohn. Double D would head to the pits with some damage. As the green flag flies again, Double D would not have enough time to make the repairs and would settle for a 17th place finish.
