THE GROVE
With the All-Stars in town, another time trial show was on the agenda. Double D had a good lap, but with close competition Double D ended up timing 25th. Inverting only 24 Double D would start 7th in the 1st Heat. His heat was stacked with great drivers, but Double D fought hard, only to come up short of qualifying. He finished 6th, with only 5 to transfer to the feature. Double D would have to qualify through the B Main. He started 8th of 24 cars with only 4 more to qualify to the feature. He battled Jim Siegel for many laps for the final transfer spot. With a caution coming out with 2 laps to go, Double D missed his mark going into turn 1 and fell back to finish 6th. Unfortunately, team GKR missed the show.
LINCOLN
39 cars were on hand for the second night of All-Star racing. Double D would go out to time 20th. The first few cars to time brought quick laps but as time trials went on the track slowed down. Double D would end up timing 22nd of 39 cars. This places Double D on the pole for Heat 2. They call Double D for jumping the start, so according to All-Star rules, Double D was pushed back to 3rd for the restart. Double D battles, driving hard trying to keep the car on the bottom. He qualifies for the feature with a 5th place finish in his heat race. Double D would get his time back, scheduled to start 22nd for the feature. But with some cars who timed quicker not qualifying for the feature he would end up starting 19th. Green flag flies and Double D finds his line and starts gradually passing cars. Double D battles for position each lap. Over the last few laps, Double D makes his car wide around the track holding off Johnny Mackison Jr. for a 10th place finish. Team GKR is pleased with the finish, and looks forward to next weekend.
