LINCOLN
Double D(DD) had a good feeling about this weekend, and with Williams Grove raining out on Friday, that only left Lincoln on the schedule to come up with a good night. Double D started 3rd in the 2nd heat, and it didn’t take him long to get to the front. Double D got his first heat win of the year. With the handicapping, and the previous weeks luck, we knew Double D would be starting towards the front for the feature. The lineup was posted and Double D would be starting 3rd for the feature. Green flag flies, and before one lap is recorded the yellow comes out for Josh Wells. On the restart, Tim Glatfelter spins collecting Kevin Nagy, Kyle Moody, Adam Wilt and Brian Leppo. Glatfelter and Nagy started on the front row, this moved Double D to the pole for the 2nd restart. Double D takes the green and gets himself a lead when the yellow comes out again, with two laps complete, for Brian Monteith. On the next restart, Doug Dodson spins, collecting Leppo, Doug Esh and Wells. As the green flies again, some consecutive green flag laps are finally run. Double D pulls away from the pack and approaches lap traffic when the yellow comes out again for a slowing Chad Layton on the front stretch. Double D holds off a charging Brad McClelland on the restart and gets himself another comfortable lead with the final yellow comes out on lap 18, for Fred Rahmer. The final restart was intense, McClelland applied the pressure once again, but Double D held him off to record the first victory for the #48 Sandoe’s Fruit Market sponsored sprinter. High fives all around in victory lane. This is the first win for new car owner Gary Kauffman. Everyone was excited and relieved at the same time, the bad luck had come to an end and hopefully on good fortune to come.
