Week 4 review

April 16th, 2010

THE GROVE

DD started 5th in Heat 2.  He looked good and came up with a solid run, finishing 2nd.  This puts DD in great position for the feature, he started 7th.  Passing a few cars, DD drove hard and hit all his marks.  He finished with his first top 5 of the season, a solid and well earned 4th.

LINCOLN

DD started 3rd in Heat 1. He had a super fast car, and was driving hard into turn 3 for the lead on Lap 1 and ended up spinning and collecting Tim Glatfelter.  He suffered damage, but repaired it for the feature.  DD started 25th for the feature and on lap 1, the caution flew for a pile-up of cars in 3 & 4.  DD goes high to avoid the wreck, which he does, but gets a shove from behind from Glatfelter also trying to stay out of the wreck.  DD’s car is out of gear and heads to the pits for repairs.  Just as the green flag waves the crew gets the car to go back into gear, but with no caution, DD’s chances with a fast car are over for the night.

SUSQUEHANNA

DD pulls pill # 118 out of 120.  Not a great pull, so DD needs a good run in the heat to ensure him a spot in the feature.  He started 8th in heat 3.  Heat 3 was stacked with good drivers and only 6 would qualify.  DD comes out strong, with gaining a few spots, and holding off for a 5th place finish.  This puts DD starting 15th for the 25 lap feature.  DD passes a few cars, then spins in turn 2 doing a 360.  DD would get his position back for the restart and continues to drive hard, trying to use the middle of the track for passing. DD gains a few more spots.  As the laps wind down, more cars a pulling in due to flat tires.  DD finishes the night with a 9th place finish just missing 8th place Kyle Moody at the checkered.
